January 06, 2010
Washington, DC - The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) announced today that it will officially co-sponsor the 2010 National Interagency Community Reinvestment Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. The conference will be held at the New Orleans Marriott, March 14-17, 2010. The CDFI Fund will join the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and Office of Thrift Supervision as a co-sponsor of this important conference. The CDFI Fund is also the official sponsor of a new one-day post-conference, on Thursday, March 18, 2010, which will offer advanced sessions on community development investing.
“We are honored and excited to be a part of this important training and networking event for community development professionals” said CDFI Fund Director Donna J. Gambrell. “This is the first time a non-regulatory agency has been invited to co-sponsor the National Interagency Community Reinvestment Conference and a wonderful recognition of the expanding role of the CDFI Fund.”
Conference participants will include Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) officers, community development lenders and investors, CDFIs and nonprofits. The conference will feature four tracks including CRA examination training, innovations in community development investing, creative strategies for community development, and the National Community Development Lending School. Participants will learn how CRA loans, investments, and services can have a positive and lasting impact in low- and moderate-income communities. Attendees will also be able to participate in tours of revitalization projects in New Orleans, volunteer opportunities, and networking events throughout the conference. Attendees may also register for a one-day Advanced Investments conference on Thursday, March 18. To access the full agenda, and to register online, please visit the 2010 National Interagency Community Reinvestment Conference website at: http://www.frbsf.org/community/conference2010.html.
In addition, conference organizers have issued a call for nominations for the 2010 Community Reinvestment Awards. The Community Reinvestment Awards recognize and honor the work of financial institutions with CRA obligations that are advancing innovative solutions to the challenges facing lower-income communities.
